A fellow mother to be in our Birthing From Within prenatal class was talking about this documentary and I’m really glad I’ve finally found it.

Not having a fairly flat stomach, tight thighs and bum makes me a little bit sad. I told Chris that I’m afraid of giving birth to our beautiful son and yet being too vain and distracted by my post-pregnancy body to be able to give my baby all of my joy and appreciation.

It terrifies me that Chris might one day look at me and not be attracted to me because my body will be saggier, heavier and looser. Regardless of the amount of exercise and healthy food that I eat, it will simply never be the body of a maiden, of a girl who has not given birth.

I trust that the birth of our son will bring us together, rather than tear us apart, and that he loves my post-baby body, as much as he loved my pre-baby body and the body his son shares right now.

A mark for every breath you took, every blink, every sleepy yawn.
One for every time you sucked your thumb, waved hello, closed your eyes,
and slept in the most perfect darkness.
One for every time you had the hiccups.
One for every dream you dreamed within me.
It isn’t very pretty anymore.
Some may even think it’s ugly.
That’s OK.
It was your home.
It held you until my arms could,
and for that, I will always find something beautiful in it.

This awesome power and potential that lies between my hipbones… most days I don’t think about it. I stretch, flex, contract, all in an effort to flatten things back out a bit more. I wish I could say that after watching this I’ll never beat myself up about my not-quite-totally-flat belly again, but as a yet non-mommy-person, it certainly puts things in perspective.

These women, these stories are inspiring.

To bring it all back to current events, every woman should be proud of her postpartum “battle scars,” that comes with the choice and celebration of conception. (I’m looking at you, Washington. You cognac-and-steak-bellied bastards.)

AMAZING!!! I’m in love this this. Their bodies are so beautiful! I love that one of the girls daughter was named Phoebe :). Ugh I just love this! I love my stomach. I honestly don’t care if I will always have loose skin! This video is just so empowering!! I’ll post a picture of my tummy up close to show my beautiful life giving stomach !!

this is very inspiring. it definetly helped me view myself in a more beautiful manner.

This is absolutely beautiful…
