What fulfillment is there from slander? To partake in hate, and to find joy in saying words that make another human being feel worthless is to neglect the goodness of life. To inflict any misery on one another is a loss to both parties. I think it shows a lack of dignity and humility upon the inflicter, and darkens the good and wounds the victim.
