September 25, 1911  The name of Park Drive in East End Vancouver—so named because it ended at the time at Clark Park—is changed to Commercial Drive. The name was changed thanks to real estate promoters who wanted to bring into prominence what they predicted would be a great commercial thoroughfare. Luludemon: Am I really an athlete? →
Luludemon inspires me in so many ways. Not only is she is an amazing jammer, she is so incredibly kind and genuine. I like that she can be sweet self, and also ruthless on the track. italkderby: jolly-pop: Luludemon totally stole my heart during the 2011 World Cup, and here she is talking about a hot derby topic, commenting on where she sits in the derby athlete spectrum and demonstrating how...

I will teach my children to accept nothing less... →
I want my daughter to know that being disrespected is NEVER acceptable.  I want my daughter to know that if someone likes her and respects her, much less LOVES her, they don’t hurt her and they don’t put her down.  Read more here: http://viewsfromthecouch.com/2012/02/12/you-didnt-thank-me-for-punching-you-in-the-fac/ As the mother-to-be of a little boy, I am determined to teach my son that...

26 of our friends came and celebrated our son with...
I still am in a bit of a daze today. Yesterday was incredible beyond my wildest dreams; these are the people I want in my life for a long time. There were a few notable people whose other responsibilities kept them from being with us, but other than that, our home has never been filled with so much love and so many good people. From food to presents for Noah and best of, big dreams and well...

Books I desperately want for Noah
My love for reading started at an early age. With the vivid memory of my father’s books scattered all through the house, family visits to the library and the joy that the latest Scholastic catalogues brought me, I can’t help wanting beautifully drawn , thoughtful and imaginative stories for my baby. So this is as much a wish list, as much as a “note to self.” Enjoy. ...

Taking care of business! Buying natural,...
My energy levels are exponentially depleting lately; it is getting harder and harder to get out of bed and go to work in the morning, let alone come home and get much done. so I was pretty excited today when the organization that we took prenatal classes from ( Dancing Star Birth ) sent out a list of local stores and services specializing in all things mama and baby. Amongst the list, I discovered...

I haven't been forgotten!
I was wrong. Happily, joyfully, proven wrong. I didn’t think anyone but a few would remember me, but last night was so much fun, to catch up on derby… And with friends.
